Stockport Tri Club Health and Safety Procedures


Arrive before the start of the session

Bring relevant equipment

Bring suitable clothing for before, during and after the session

Bring adequate drinks and food where appropriate

All sessions are run by qualified Triathlon or running coaches.  At the start of each session, the coach will give a briefing and indicate any safety points to be aware of.  If you have any medical condition which could affect you during a training session, you should note it on your application form, and inform the coach leading the session.  Any accident that does occur, no matter how minor, must be reported to the coach and recorded in the accident book.

Bike General

A helmet MUST be worn for all cycling sessions.  No helmet means no ride!

Always follow the rules of the road, respect and be courteous to other road users, cycling safely at all times.

Wear and carry appropriate clothing for potential weather conditions and length of ride.

You should carry with you – spare inner tube and puncture repair kit, pump, food and drink, money and bike lights if cycling in the evening.


Arrive in plenty of time to set up.  Ensure your bike is securely attached to the frame of the turbo before getting on.  Ensure you have a sweat towel and a drink.


Swim Pool

Follow the venue rules

Only get in the pool if it is supervised ie. Coach or lifeguard

Don’t dive in.

Don’t run on poolside and make sure any equipment is safely stored so not a hazard to other swimmers on poolside.

Ensure you are wearing the correct kit and have a drink to stay hydrated.

Ensure you are in the correct lane for your ability and speed

Swim in the direction indicated by the coach for your lane – usually anti clockwise

Leave a reasonable gap from the swimmer in front.

Allow faster swimmers through at the end of the set.

If you are getting caught you should either drop down the order in the group or move into a slower lane.

Have consideration for others in the lane or pool.

Run Sessions

The coached run sessions will be led and coached by Bramhall Runners.  Please respect the club and its members.  All monies should be paid to the coaches at the start of each session.

Wear appropriate clothing for the weather conditions and length of run.

On dark night wear reflective clothing.

Bring a drink if necessary for the length of the session and warm clothes for after the session.
