The Tameside cycling development group race series has been added to the calendar. This is 20 week race series starting on Tuesday 14th April, the track is adjacent to Curzon Ashton FC. The event follows the format below :

  • 18:30 to 19:05 Youth races
  • 19:15 to 20:15 Cat 2/3/4
  • 20:30 to 21:00 Cat 4 (30mins + 5 laps)
  • Every 4th race, the Cat 4 is replaces by a ladies only race

The series allows you to accrue points and move up the categories with Cat 4 being lowest. For those who haven’t raced before you will start on a Cat 4 race, just because the Cat2/3/4 race allows Cat 4 in, DO NOT, start here. You will be left behind after 100 meters.

For those interested it is better to enter online, the first 6 or 7 races tend to sell very quickly, the back end races tend to have low attendance, (school hols etc.).

You need to be a member of British Cycling, none race license holders & provisional race license holders will be charged an additional day race license fee up to £10.

To attend these races you must register with the league first for a one off £10, the race information can be found here:

This is excellent crit racing on a very technical and fast closed road circuit, it’s on your doorstep so is worth going to watch and learn prior to your first attempt. I’ve raced on it many times & it is excellent training.

Mossley CRT are also hosting racing on 15th/22nd March, these are run along the same lines and again have a women only race on both events :
