October Race Report
Despite the end of summer and the end of the triathlon season for the UK October has still been a busy month for STC members. At the start of the month, we had representation at Ironman Barcelona with Carolyn posting a PB for Barcelona by knocking off 10 minutes from her previous time. It was obviously the month for long distance events. Suzie completed the Run to the Sea Bournemouth 50k Ultra and Kath the Chester Marathon, while Colin and Mike.H scaled the 2nd highest mountain in the UK at the Eryri Marathon.
The start of October also saw our first podium spot with Nick.R finishing 3rd at Oulton Park Super Sprint Duathlon.
October is also a popular time for half marathons with Steve.B running the Congleton half while Michael, Iona & Paul.F joined the masses of runners in the ever-popular Manchester Half. Eve and Ian made the trip down to Tring, Hertfordshire and took part in Tring Running club’s15k trail run.
Sticking with the trails Club Chair Tim was running the tough Helvellyn 10k.
There where a few of our members seeking out some last grasp warm weather with Janet, Simon & Gill D travelling the Mallorca for the Palma 10k while Phil made the trip to mainland Spain to compete in Ironman Marbella 70.3. Also, abroad Jonathan posted a fantastic time at the Aries 10k.
Back closer to home there were more trail races with Laura.C & Gill.J running the 22k of Ladybower Reservoir Trail race.
October was also the start of Cross-Country season with STC entering 15members in the first race of the Manchester Area Cross Country League season at Heaton Park.
But it’s not all been about the running, Simon & Christine.C managed to get out on their bikes and take in the Lake District scenery at the Cumbrian Cracker Spotive. And for something a bit different Sarmid & Ric paired up to take on Hyrox Birmingham.
The month was rounded off with Paul.C & Nick Rat the Macclesfield 10k while Paul.F braved the dark at the spooky Delamere Forest Night Trail 10k.
All in all busy month for STC members, let’s see what November brings.
